History Of Mewar

A comparatively small state like Mewar played an important role during the medieval times by displaying stiff resistance against the authorities of the Praihars of Kanauj, the Chalukyas of Gujarat, the Parmars of Malwa, the Chauhans of Ajmer, the Sultans of Delhi Mawa, Gujarat, and Nagaur, the Mughal Emperors and the Marathas. The present work deals with the history of this state from the earliest times of Maratha period. It is based mostly on the original contemporary sources and mass of new critical examination. Due emphasis has been given on furnishing authentic material and good number of new inscriptions have been reported in it. Thus while working on the old material known to Col. Tod., Shyamaldas, Ojha etc. the author has discovered sufficient new one also. This labour of the author was necessitated because new light had to be through on the history of the region from the facts collected from several excavation conducted during last two decades and a host of other findings.
